An Opp High School teacher who was arrested in May for allegedly having sexual relations with a student was formally indicted by a Covington County Grand Jury in November.

Ashley Nelson Hall was indicted for being a school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19 years. The charge is a Class B felony.

Bail was fixed at $500,000.

At the time of her arrest, Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said an investigation was opened into the alleged crime on April 30.

McDonald said that after an in-depth investigation, Hall, then 33, was arrested and originally charged with two counts of aschool employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19 years.

She was immediately placed on administrative leave. If convicted, Hall faces no less than two years and no more than 20 years in prison.
