St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, in cooperation with other churches, supporters and volunteers, will again provide a free meal to anyone who needs it or is alone on Christmas Day, Fri., Dec. 25.

Jan Morris, who organizes the project, said volunteers are preparing food for more than 300 people.

The holiday dinners served at Thanksgiving and Christmas were originally called ACORN dinners and organized by Josephine Mosdell. After her death, they were renamed Jo’s Community Dinners in her honor. At Christmas, the meal includes ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, dressing, and the trimmings.

Morris said anyone who wants to volunteer is welcome, as are contributions to the cause.

“Just show up on Christmas morning, and we’ll put you to work,” she said.

Morris said those who need meals may dine-in, carry out or have the food delivered to them.

Meals will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

The only stipulation is that those who need their meals delivered call by Wed., Dec. 24. For more information, call 222-2487.

The church is located at 1307 E. Three Notch St.
