The Solon and Martha Dixon Foundation recently contributed $50,000 to the Opp pool project, officials said this week.

That brings the total funds collected for the project to more than $338,000. PowerSouth donated some $50,000 earlier this year and the Estep Foundation donated $100,000 two years ago.

After years of discussion, the city council OK’d some $400,000 to build a competitive-style pool at its Veterans Memorial Park location.

Blue Haven Pools won the bid for the pool and Catrett Construction is building the pool house, which features air conditioned bathrooms, concession stand , a breeze way and a room.

The pool includes deck, splash pad, wheelchair lift, platform, land ropes and more.
