Annie Pearl (Ward) Staley
Mrs. Annie Pearl (Ward) Staley was born on April 1, 1930, to the late Gardner Ward and Rebecca Ward in Covington County. She entered eternal life on Dec. 20, 2015, at her home in Andalusia.
Mrs. Annie became a Christian at an early age and joined St. Peter Baptist Church. She completed her education through Covington County Training School.
After school, she joined in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Samuel Wilcox Woods, whereas they were blessed with three girls, Margo, Helen and Rebecca (Woods) Wytch, all demised; and three boys, Jackie, Tarris, and Ray Woods. Many years after, she wedded the late Glasco Mason, and again the two were blessed with three boys: Glasco, Anthony and Toney Mason. Toney Mason is deceased. After, for many years, she was married to Mr. Douglas Staley.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Gardner and Rebecca Ward; both sisters, Lula May and Lisa Ann Ward; and her only brother, King Solomon Ward; three daughters, Margo and Helen Woods, and Rebecca (Woods) Wytch; and one son, Toney Mason.
Mrs. Annie leaves to cherish her loving memories five boys, Jackie, Tarris, Ray, Glasco and Antony; one nephew, James Ward; and three nieces, Patricia, Sharon and Debra Ward; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; great nephews; and nieces, and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Mon., Dec. 28, at St. Peter Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby C. Rhodes will officiate, with a eulogy by Minister James Ward.
The family hour and Order of Eastern Star rites will be from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sun., Dec. 27, at Marshall Hammond Funeral Hope Chapel, Andalusia.
