Locals took part of their Saturday to help a neighboring community fighting flood waters.

Andalusia Police Department’s Mike Abraham, APD’s Jason Strickland, Covington County Sheriff’s Posse’s Jeremie Bryan, county maintenance employee James Smith, Caid Jackson, APD’s Tyler Patterson and River Falls Police Chief Greg Jackson headed to Elba to help with sandbagging efforts.

“We went the day after Christmas,” Jackson said. “We spent all day. We filled 2,500 sandbags and delivered 500 to those who needed them.”
