After escaping a round of state park closures in 2015, Frank Jackson State Park is adding new camper cabins to its options in 2016.
Reservations are now being accepted for the new cabins at the park in Opp.
“We are taking reservations for all three camper cabins,” said park manager Chris Jones. “Each cabin in non-smoking, has three bedrooms and sleeps up to six guests. The units are also furnished with a full kitchen and utensils, central heat and air conditioning, satellite TV, a picnic table and grill.”
Jones said each cabin features a 42-inch flat screen TV, with DISH network.
Bed linens, pillows and towels will be provided by the guests.
No pets are allowed in the cabins, Jones said.
Rates start at $85 per night with a two-night minimum stay for weekend visits.
Jones said they have one handicapped accessible cabin.
“We are excited,” he said. “A lot of people don’t have travel trailers, and this gives them an opportunity to experience our park.”
On Thursday, Jones said he already had people calling inquiring about the new cabins.
“The park also offers RV and primitive camping, hiking, swimming, fishing and boating access to the 1,000-acre Lake Jackson,” he said. “Each October, the park hosts the popular Trail Masters’ event, Scarecrows in the Park.”
