Sarah Gene Clark

Mrs. Sarah Gene Clark, age 91, of Andalusia, died Jan. 8, 2016. The daughter of Franklin Horatio Williams, Sr., and Lessie Jewel Bell Williams, Sarah was born in Birmingham, and grew up in the southern Alabama area. A graduate of Samson High School Class of 1942, she worked that summer at the Kodak desk in what was then Camp Rucker and there she met her future husband, Charles Albert Clark, Army Private First Class.

Sarah married in 1943 and lived with her parents in Geneva until the end of WWII and the return of her husband in 1945. In early 1946 Sarah and Charles moved to California and spent the next 40 years there, raising a family. She was a licensed daycare provider and took care of children for working parents for many years. She went to college in order to get her certification so she could teach preschool. She taught 3 year olds at the Hacienda Heights Christian Preschool for 11 years before retiring. In 1990, after the death of Charles, Sarah moved to Andalusia to retire from California traffic. Sarah was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and enjoyed singing with the Glory Singers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Albert Clark, Sr.; brothers, Aubrey Williams and Mitchell Williams; sisters, Lorene Crutchfield, Sybil Baxter, and Margaret Smyly; and grandson, Martin Albert Clark.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Albert Clark, Jr. and Walter Franklin Clark; daughters, Lessie “Susie” McMullen and Carolyn Kay Armistead; grandchildren, Courtney Clark, Michael Clark, James D. Clark, Richard Clark, Amy Sotolongo, and Andrew McMullen; great-grandchildren, James McMullen, Liam McMullen, and Olivia Sotolongo; brother, F.H. Williams, Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mrs. Sarah Gene Clark will be at 1 p.m. Wed., Jan. 13, 2016, at Foreman Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.

The family asks for memorials to be given in Mrs. Clark’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Andalusia.

Beatrice Amanda Huckaba

Beatrice Amanda Huckaba died Sun., Jan. 10, 2016, surrounded by family.

She was daughter of Dr. Ralph S. Beesley and Fannie P. Beesley.

Her husband, Bobby G. Huckaba, preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Huckaba will be held 11 a.m., Wed., Jan. 13, 2016, at the Gantt Baptist Church with burial following in the Ables Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Tues., Jan. 12, 2016, at the Keahey Funeral Home chapel and one hour prior to services in the church.

Mrs. Huckaba was a lifelong resident of Covington County, Ala., a member of Gantt Baptist Church, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star #450 of Red Level. She retired from AlaTex Textile Products Corporation.

Her brothers, Ralph M. Beesley, Jack A. Beesley and Hugh S. Beesley, and her sister, Johnnie Agnes Godwin, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Huckaba is survived by her sister-in-laws, Delana Kervin, Betty Huckaba, Maddie Lou Beesley, and Sylvia Beesley. (Predeceased by Thelma Huckaba).

She had two daughters, Barbara Dean (E.J.) and Cathy Huckaba.

Her grandchildren are Christy Sasser (Justin), Shane Turner, Kiesha Sherman (Kris), and Starr Huckaba.

Great-grandchildren are Cooper Sasser, Kennedy Bullard, Sara Sherman and Regan Sherman.

Other survivors are 10 nieces and nephews, which include Anita Beesley Moore and Carol Godwin Merritt.

Special friends are Norman and Mack Williams, and Nell Myrick.

 

Julaine A. Berry

Mrs. Julaine A. Berry, age 90, of Andalusia passed away Wed., Jan. 6, 2016, at Andalusia Regional Hospital.

She is survived by her sons, Mike (Judy) Berry of South Carolina, and Steve Berry (Paul Myers) of Dallas; her daughters, Susan (Steve) Jordan of Port St. Lucy, Fla., and Julaine Mike) Hayse of Andalusia; grandchildren, Larissa ( Jay ) Hernandez, Max Berry, Ryan Berry, Meagan Berry, Sarah (Russell) Kirkpatrick and Mike Hayse; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Amani.

Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband, George Berry, and her son, Kevin Berry.

Arrangements handled by Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia.

 

Wesley Howard Andrews

Mr. Wesley Howard Andrews, age 54, passed away Sun., Jan. 10, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 14, 2016, in the Keahey Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Chester Watson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Survivors include his wife, Syonia Miller of Opp; mother, Annie Merle Henderson of Opp; sons, Justin Corey Andrews of Opp, and Dustin Howard (Sarah) Andrews of Daleville, Ala.; brother, Waylon Bruce Henderson of Opp; sister, Patricia Andrews (Chester) Watson of Opp; grandchildren, Austin, Hope, Weston, Grace and Destin; and his stepmother, Sible Andrews.
