“Understanding and Answering Islam” is a simulcast by Ravi Zacharias International Ministries.

Headed up by Southside’s Jan White, the simulcast is meant to be educational.

“It’s really about what Muslims believe compared to Christianity,” she said. “We are not endorsing Islam.”

White said she believes it’s important for Christians to learn more about Islam because a Pew Research Study forecasts that by 2040 Islam will be the second largest religion in America.

“We need to understand it,” she said. “We need to know what they believe and we need to know what we believe.”

White said the simulcast will not be “an in your face thing.”

Islam is no longer distant and radical Islam is on the move around the globe in ways Americans were woken up to on Sept. 11, 2001, and the public is constantly reminded of that in global new stories.

Speakers include Dr. Stuart McAllister, Dr. Abdu Murray, Dr. Nabeel Qureshi, Dr. Sasan Tavassoli, Dr. Richar Shumack, the Rev. Jack Smith and Dr. Daniel Janosik.

The event will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday and from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

White said participants will break for lunch from 11 until 12:15, with lunch on your own.
