Think you have the best chili or soup around?

Phi Theta Kappa at LBWCC says, “prove it.”

The organization is holding its annual Soup and Chili Cookoff on Mon., Feb. 1, and participants are needed, said sponsor Heather Owen.

Owen said participants may enter both categories.

Each entrant must bring a pot of soup or chili equal to a standard crock pot, which is 1 gallon.

“First place prizes will be awarded in each category, as well as a People’s Choice winner,” she said. “Entrants will receive free samples of chili from other contestants.”

Each crock pot will be assigned a number. Contestants are forbidden to discuss their soup/chili or number with voters and should only be at their crockpot for refilling, cleaning and restocking.

Judging will begin at 11:15 a.m., on Feb. 1. People’s Choice taste testing will begin at 11:30 a.m., and winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m.

Entry forms are due Thurs., Jan. 28.

Admission to the event is $5 and includes tastings.

The event will be held at the LBWCC student center.
