A family is breathing a sigh of relief after a man fell from a boat in Gantt Thursday.

Covington County Chief Deputy David Anderson said the department had a call that the subject – an adult male – had fallen out of a boat.

“We dispatched our deputies, rescue and called the Opp Fire Department’s water rescue team to come,” he said. “But the people with him swam out and got him back in the boat.”

Anderson said a rescue team checked out the victim, whose name is not being released.
