Cavaliers top Knicks

After falling behind in the first half, the Andalusia City League Cavaliers rallied back for a 40-24 win over the Knicks on Monday night at the old Andalusia Middle School gym.

The Cavaliers came pouncing out of the gate behind the strong shooting effort of Hudson Dean and Keon Marshall.

Dean found string music when he dropped in a 3-pointer to help give the Cavaliers an 11-8 lead at the end of the first period.

Marshall put in 4 points for Cavaliers. Michael Hourel and Trevion Richardson each had 2 points.

Ajaveion Coleman had 6 points in the opening period for the Knicks and Brendan Davison added 2 points.

In the second period, both teams continued to shoot the ball with fierce intensity, but it was the Cavaliers who held a 15-14 lead at halftime.

The Knicks responded in the third period and took an 18-15 lead when Coleman popped a 3-pointer from the corner.

It didn’t take long for the Cavaliers to retake the lead at 24-22 when Dean came up with put back after grabbing an offensive rebound.

Once the Cavaliers had the lead again, they never let up.

The Cavaliers defense was stifling in the fourth period, and limited the Knicks to just 2 points.

Marshall led the Cavaliers with 11 points in the win. Hourel and Richardson each added 10 points. Dean finished the night with 7 points.

Coleman was the leading scorer for the Knicks with 12 points. Davison added 8 points.
