Mr. Willie has received an outpouring of support in his quest to find a place to live.
Willie Laster, 72, has been homeless for several weeks, but the ladies at Security Finance have made it their goal to find him a place to live and get him to start-up money he needs for deposits and rent.
“I’ve had people Facebooking me from all over the United States,” said Vickie Goodson of Security Finance.
Goodson told the Star-News on Friday that Laster, who has been a customer of theirs for years, came to the office recently because he had no where else to go.
The employees put him up at the Sunset Inn, and have located him an apartment.
Goodson said they’ve had people who want to donate Mr. Willie clothes and furniture, but she said they have to have somewhere to put it.
“We had somebody come by the office this morning and donate $60,” she said. “Right now we have about $400.”
They estimate they will need around $800.
“He really appreciates it,” she said. “Someone told him yesterday he was famous because of the article. So, now he thinks he’s famous.”
Anyone who wishes to donate, can stop by Security Finance next to Little Caesar’s in Andalusia.
