Bobcats roll past Elba

It was Elba who jumped out to an early lead, but the Opp Bobcats’ offense surged in the second half to give them a 50-42 victory Tuesday night in Opp.
The Bobcats got on the board first with a quick layup from Ty’Keenan White.
Evan King then knocked down a pair of free throws to put the Bobcats up 4-0.
Both teams continued to find the basket in the opening period, and Elba held an 18-14 lead heading into the second.
Opp quickly cut into the lead when Tye Lindsey got a steal and King finished it off with a layup.
The Bobcats then tied the game up on a put back from Orlando Lacey.
Opp cut it to a 1-point Elba lead with a strong layup from Devontae Williams, and then took the lead when White got a layup after coming up with a steal.
White was fouled on the layup and knocked down the free throw to put Opp up 25-23.
Elba tied the game up 25-25 just before half.
Opp took a quick lead to start the third period with another strong move to the basket from Williams.
After the Tigers cut the lead to down to 28-27, Lindsey popped a 3-pointer to put the Bobcats up by four.
A free throw from Williams followed, and then a 3-pointer from Lacey put the Bobcats up 35-29.
Lacey and White capped off the scoring in the third period to put Opp on top 39-32 heading into the final frame.
Elba started the final period off strong and cut the Bobcats’ lead down to 39-38.
White then took over for the Bobcats.
With 7:13 left in the game, White knocked down a pair of free throws. He followed with a layup, and then buried a 3-pointer to give the Bobcats a 46-42 lead with 1:47 left in the game.
The Bobcats then got a fast break layup from Greg House, and Williams ended the scoring with a layup to give Opp a 50-42 victory.
White led the Bobcats with 18 points in the victory.
Williams and Lacey each finished the night with 11 points.
Brosnan Cooks led Elba with 14 points in the loss.
Opp will be back in action on Thursday night against Kinston for Senior Night.
On Friday night, the Bobcats will host cross-county rival Andalusia.
