Rep. Mike Jones, R-Andalusia, will continue to chair the Judiciary Committee in the Alabama House of Representatives.

Alabama Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) on Friday announced changes to the standing committees, but did not move Jones from Judiciary. Jones took leadership of the committee after the 2014 elections, and successfully guided a sweeping prison reform package through both his committee and the legislature last year.

“Committee assignments are chosen based upon the skills and talents each member possesses, and each of these members have distinguished themselves among their colleagues,” Hubbard said. “I look forward to serving alongside each member in their new roles as we continue to do what is right for Alabama.”

The legislature begins its 2016 regular session on Tuesday.
