Annual Forestry Planning tree sale starts today

Looking for something to pretty up your yard?

Then, look no further than the upcoming annual Covington County Forestry Planning Committee’s annual tree sale.

The event is one of the most widely attended events held at the local U.S. Department of Agriculture building each year.

Organizers say those interested in getting the widest variety of selection should come early.

Species available are green ash, American snowbell, sassafras, baldcypress, red maple, Chickasaw plum, river birch, persimmon, redbud, chinquapin, Eastern mayhaw, sycamore, dogwood, live oak, yellow poplar, fringetree (Grancy greybeard), white oak, Florida maple, mackernut hickory, crabapple and sawtooth oak.

All trees are $1 each.

The event will be held Feb. 3 through Feb. 5, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., at the USDA Service Center.
