The local community’s help is needed to get a family back together after a fire destroyed their newly-renovated home.
The Rose Hill home of John and Sabrina Findley was destroyed by fire over the weekend.
Family friend Christy Sasser has set to work to help the Findleys get back on their feet.
The Findleys’ 3-year-old son, Kellen, is also battling embryonal rhadomysocarcoma.
Sasser has launched several fundraisers, she said Thursday.
The first is a T-shirt sale.
Shirts say “Fight like a kid and pray like a warrior.”
The shirts are comfort color shirts and are $15 for youth extra small through youth large; $20 for adult small through adult extra large and $25 for sizes 2X and up.
Sasser said those interested in purchasing a shirt can contact her on Facebook or stop by Andalusia Cash and Carry.
Another fundraiser – a housewarming shower – will be held on Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Covington County Board of Education Auditorium.
“They are registered at Walmart,” she said. “They are needing all household items as well as a TV.”
Sasser said any kind of Walmart gift card, VISA gift cards, Winn-Dixie gift card or toiletries would be helpful.
Next week, they will begin selling chances on a gun to be given away on March 17. The chances will be $5 for one chance or $10 for three chances, and will be sold at Andalusia Cash and Carry or from Sasser.
