Rumor has it that there’ll be more than a couple of “politicians” at this year’s Red Garter Review, given that it is an election year, and the Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club has chosen “Born in the USA” as the theme for the 2016 event.
Red Garter chairwoman Tiffany Bryan said there are 11 acts, five running gags, and two excellent emcees performing this year.
Roger and Cathy Powell will emcee the event, which will feature Morgan Burnette, Aubrey McKee, the AJWC Dancers, the Ritz Crackers, Tabitha Linzy, Kara Foreman, Katie King and Lynsey Williams, Lori Couturier, Ted Watson, Phillip McClung, Scott Rogers, Jeff Sellers, Richard Moore, Bryce Stewart and Dustin Dyess.
Collectively, they will sing, dance, and perform comedic routines, Bryan said.
The AJWC’s major fundraisers are Red Garter and Three Notch Market, the spring arts and crafts show. In the past year, it has made charitable contributions totaling more than $19,000 to Ollie’s Army, Meredith’s Miracles, MOPS, Imagination Library, Covington Arts Council, United Methodist Children’s Home, the Child Advocacy Center, and provided scholarships.
The 33rd annual event is set for 7 p.m. at the Dixon Center of LBW Community Center. Tickets are $15 each and available at Harolds, Utopia, both Darby’s locations, and Wiregrass Federal Credit Union.
