Parents with children who will turn 4 years old by Sept. 1 and live in Straughn and Pleasant Home school districts can put their children’s names in the hat for the Pre-K program at each school.

This is the second year both schools have had the First Class Preschool program.

“(Thursday began) our 30 days of advertising for SES and PHS’s 2016-2017 Pre-K programs,” said SES principal Bettye Anne Older. “Registration packets will be available April 4-May 3, at each school’s office.”

Older said that a random drawing will be held at noon on May 4, at the Covington County Schools’ Central Office gym.

The first 18 students drawn will be offered placement, she said.

Parents may pick up packets from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily.

Those interested are required to complete a family information form and bring the most recent utility bill for proof of residency.

For more information call SES at 427-1311 or PHS at 222-1315.
