Covington County Emergency Management Agency Director Susan Harris said Tuesday the forecast for severe weather looks better this morning, but still encourages local residents to be prepared.

The National Weather Service’s latest forecast still shows a significant chance of severe weather later today. However, Harris said it looks as if most of the bad weather will be west of Covington County.

“We are still in the forecast, but the majority of it is west of us,” she said.

If severe weather moves through Covington County, it should be between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., according to the severe weather alert forecast.
