A local man is behind bars after leading River Falls Police on a chase around town Friday evening.
River Falls Police Chief Greg Jackson said that he attempted to stop Dale Edward Stewart, 57, at the Inland store.
“He was running 90 in a 45 mph speed zone,” Jackson said. “We chase him to Debro Hill and he did a 360 and almost struck a vehicle. He was running 100 mph on 55 North.”
Jackson said that Stewart’s vehicle started acting up and he kept driving “real slow” and almost struck River Falls Police officer Thomas Hugghins.
During the course of the chase, Jackson said that Stewart almost hit 10-15 cars on the road.
Additionally, Jackson said Stewart recently received another driving under the influence charge and has two from 2015.
He was charged with driving under the influence, 10 counts of reckless endangerment and attempting to elude.
He is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $202, 000 bond.
