Amon James Owens

Mr. Amon James Owens, 85, of the Heath community, passed away Mon., March 7, 2016, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wed., March 9, at Cedar Grove Church of Christ with Minister Terry Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Owens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Adrian Dyess and Melissa and Dan Gantt; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Debbie Owens, all of Andalusia; and three grandchildren, Dylan Dyess, Dustin Dyess, and Meagan Gantt.

Pallbearers will be Dan Gantt, Adrian Dyess, Dylan Dyess, Dustin Dyess, Mike Owens, and Donald Knox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Megan Kelley Smiles Foundation, P.O. Box 1416, Andalusia, AL 36420.

Alice Powell

Walters

Mrs. Alice Powell Walters, 85, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., March 5, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Mon., March 7, at Pressly Memorial Presbyterian Church with Brother P. J. McClung officiating. Interment followed in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Anita Patterson, Jimmy Patterson, Mark and Shena Patterson, Leslie and Sheri Walters; a daughter, Rebecca Wojtowicz; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Bass and Ruth Nation.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Walters; mother, Georgia White; father, James Arthur Powell; two sisters, Mary Estelle Wall and Clara Mae Powell; a brother, James Marcus Powell; and her son, David Arthur Patterson.

Pallbearers were Calabe Varner, Mike Patterson, Caylon Odom, Gary Lambert, Tony Cofield, and Andy Coleman.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Varner, James David Veara, and Matthew Starnes.
