The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs picked up a big 8-2 win over the Highland Home Lady Flying Squadron Saturday morning in the quarter-finals of the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles Softball Tournament.

Highland Home scored first to start the game, but the Lady Bulldogs rallied back with four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-run lead.

Chloe Mikel singled in Millie Manring for the Lady Bulldogs’ first run of the contest.

Hard hits off the bats of Sydney Ray and pitcher Mary Katherine Salter led to errors and two more runs for the Lady Bulldogs in the opening inning.

Merikal McCaskill added to the Lady Bulldogs’ lead in the bottom of the fourth when she hit a screaming line drive back to the pitcher that led to two runs for Andalusia.

“I felt like we played pretty good defense today,” Lady Bulldog head coach Anthony Mikel said. “We started off a little flat, but then we cranked it up and finished it off. Our pitcher did a great job also. She put the ball where it needed to be and the defense made plays behind her.”

McCaskill finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Manring finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Zaria Jones and Haley Ballard each scored twice in the in the Lady Bulldogs’ victory.

Salter allowed six hits over five innings of work and struck out three on her way to picking up the win for Andalusia.
