Curry indicted on drug charges

The father of a former Andalusia Police Department investigator was indicted by a Covington County Grand Jury and was recently arrested.

Otis R. Curry, 61, was first arrested on March 19, 2014, along with his son Jason Curry.

Otis was arrested at the time for two counts of unlawfully distributing a controlled substance – the same charges for which he was indicted.

The grand jury indictment shows “that before the finding of this indictment, Otis Randal Curry, whose name is unknown to the grand jury other than as stated, while at or near Covington County, and while on the campus or within a three-mile radius of the campus boundaries of any public or private school, college, university, or within a three-mile radius of a public housing project owned by a housing authority, did on or about March 18, 2014, knowingly and unlawfully sell, furnish, give away, deliver or distribute a controlled substance – hydrocodone.

According to Star-News archives, Jason Curry was found to be in possession of two Oxy Contin 40 milligram pills, which he attempted to provide to an Alabama Bureau of Investigation informant in return for sexual activities.

He was taken into custody on charges of possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance and prostitution.

Jason Curry has not been indicted by a grand jury.
