Divas and Dessert will soon be back by popular demand.
The cabaret event, a fundraiser for the Lower Alabama Arts Coalition, made its debut last year at Springdale. All four divas – Katie King, Valarie Shakespeare, Vickie Ptomey, and Cathy Powell – will be back for this year’s event, set for Thurs., April 7. The social hour with drinks and desserts begins at 6:30 p.m., with the show set to begin at 7:30.
The four divas will sing a variety of songs from Broadway and pop country, to classic standards and current tunes. Dr. Steve Hubbard will provide piano accompaniment. Richard Rhea and Robert Couch will present pre-show entertainment in the courtyard.
LAAC will offer a limited number of tickets for Divas and Dessert at $25 per person. Tickets are available at The Gallery, Cagle Jewelers, Harold’s Furniture, and the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce. No tickets will be sold at the door.
This unique event is a great opportunity for a “date” night or gathering with friends in an intimate setting featuring great entertainment, food and drink, said LAAC board member and event organizer Roger Powell. A cash bar and the Divas’ signature cocktail will again be featured.
The LAAC provide sa venue for local artists to display and sell their original works. LAAC also offers art and music instruction for children, teens, and adults in The Gallery location on East Three Notch Street.
