Families with multiple children in the Covington County School system will have the opportunity to attend more than one graduation ceremony for the class of 2017.

“Now everyone can go to every graduation, if they want,” Superintendent Shannon Driver said.

The school board approved the 2016-2017 school calendar Tuesday evening.

The graduation schedule will be Thurs., May 25,2017: Florala High School graduation at 6 p.m. and Straughn High School graduation at 7:30 p.m.

Fri., May 26, 2017: Pleasant Home School at 6 p.m. and Red Level High School at 7:30 p.m.

School will begin on Aug. 15, for students.

Teachers will return Aug. 8-12 for professional development.

“It’s identical to last year,” Driver said. “Our principals surveyed our teachers and they were happy with the calendar. It gives us a little bit longer of a summer and a holiday each month.”
