River Falls resident James Longmire was appointed to the River Falls town council on Tuesday night.

Longmire said he is a 26-year resident of the town.

He retired from the Alabama National Guard and is married with three children.

He currently works for the Covington County Commission as a foreman in the county’s road department. He has previously served the county as a deputy and as jail administrator.

“I want to see if I can help the town of River Falls,” he said. “I hope to make some changes to better the city.”

He replaces former council member Robert Clark, who passed away recently.
