Tigers defeat Bobcats, Eagles

The Straughn Tigers’ baseball team picked up a pair of one-run wins Monday afternoon in Straughn against Opp and Pleasant Home.

STRAUGHN 5,

In the first game of the evening the Tigers held off the Bobcats for a 5-4 victory.

Straughn took an early lead with a big two-run home run from Shane Jones in the bottom of the opening frame.

Straughn opened the game up in the bottom of the third when rocket off the bat of Matt Worley scored Campbell Hudson and Jones.

Opp battled back with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Bobcats left the tying run stranded at second.

 

STRAUGHN 7, 

PLEASANT HOME 6

Straughn jumped out front 3-0 in the opening inning against the Eagles and held on for a 7-6 victory.

Another three runs from the Tigers in the bottom of the third inning helped extend the lead.

R.D. Clark finished the game 3-for-4 with one RBI and four runs scored for the Eagles.

Barrett Bush led the way for the Tigers at the plate and on the mound.

Bush went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. On the mound, Bush picked up six strikeouts and allowed four earned runs in the win.
