There’s a new chief in town at the local Farm Service Agency.

Selma native Joshua Headley was recently named county executive director for the Covington County FSA office.

Headley, who is a 2010 graduate of Auburn University said his mom spent more than 25 years working for FSA.

“I grew up knowing what she did,” he said. “When I went to Auburn, I wasn’t sure what degree to get. She talked to me about agriculture and how it’s not popular among young people and that the FSA is always looking for young people.”

Headley earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and economics.

He has been employed as a program technician at the Pike County FSA office, where he worked for four years, before taking the new job as CED.

He has been married to Lauren for two years and enjoys spending time hunting and on the lake with his family and friends.

However, all these things are second to watching football on the Plains.

Headley said he looks forward to working with Covington County producers to enhance local agriculture.
