A man is behind bars after he ran a stop sign in Florala
Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole said that officers Chad Phillips and Zack Jackson initiated a traffic stop on a 2014 Ford Taurus for running a stop sign at the intersection of Hickory Street and Hwy 54.
“Upon officer Phillips approaching the driver, the driver immediately handed Officer Phillips a smoking device that contained a marijuana joint,” he said.
Emilio Beltran-Castro was charged with possession of marijuana.
Bedsole said that the driver’s 6-year-old son was also in the car.
“A quantity of nearly an ounce of marijuana and other smoking devices were seized in the arrest of the individual,” he said.
Beltran-Castro was also charged with chemical endangerment of a child after he admitted to smoking marijuana in the car in the presence of his child.
