Lady Bulldogs topple Red Level

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs used a big fourth inning to defeat the Red Level Lady Tigers 13-1 Monday in Red Level.

In the top of the third inning, Millie Manring reached on infield single and then moved around to third on double to left by Haley Ballard.

Merikal McCaskill then ripped a ball to third base that allowed Manring to score the opening run of the game.

Ballard then scored off a steal of home.

Reagan Clark then reached off an error that pushed McCaskill across to give the Lady Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

Jessica Peacock ripped a single to the pitcher to start the top of the fourth and Lady Bulldogs’ starting pitcher Mary Katherine Salter followed with a swinging-bunt single.

The Lady Bulldogs added to their lead when Manring roped a double to center that plated Peacock from second.

After Ballard reached off an error, McCaskill singled to left driving in Manring for a 6-0 Andalusia advantage.

Clark drove in Ballard with a single and then two runs came across on error of the bat of Peacock to give Andalusia a 10-0 lead.

Olivia Whitfield started off the bottom of the fourth by drawing a walk and then came around to score on single by Madison Dunsford.

Andalusia padded the lead in the top of the fifth inning when a single from Alaina Nettles scored Ballard from third. Clark followed with another RBI single and the Lady Bulldogs’ final run came when Nettles scored on throw to second.

Clark had big day at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs going 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the victory. Manring finished the game 2-for-3 and RBI and two runs. McCaskill also drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Salter picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs with a complete-game performance. Salter allowed just three hits and one run while striking out four.

Ashlyn Joyner led the way for the Lady Tigers going 2-for-3 at the plate.
