Together, the two members of the Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club became Sweet Southern Creamery this week, making homemade ice cream to be sold at today’s Three Notch Market. They will feature vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, strawberry, key lime pie, peach, and salted caramel cashew ice cream. The 7th annual Three Notch Market Arts and Crafts Festival opens at 9 a.m. today on historic Central Street in downtown Andalusia, and chairman Tina Rogers said the event will include traditional favorites with some new twists for kids.

Three Notch Market is a project of the Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club.

Roger Powell, who is well-known for his watercolor paintings of architectural structures is this year’s featured artist. His work is featured on the official festival T-shirt, and will be available at the market.

A Youth Art Contest was added this year, and all of the entries will be on display in the Farmers’ Market. (Winners are announced on Page 5.)
In addition, local art teacher Cathy Powell will give kids an opportunity to paint this morning, and parents may purchase their work.

Roger Powell’s art is being used to promote this year’s Three Notch Market. Student entries should be of local landmarks.

Meredith’s Miracles’ Characters – including Elsa, Anna and Olaf, Minnie and Mickey, Mario and Luigi, Spongebob, Elmo, and Tinkerbell  – will be on hand to interact with kids this morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Free train rides will be offered from 10 a.m. until noon.
An added twist is Three Notch Market Bucks, Rogers said.
“To encourage people to shop, for every $10 spent with a vendor, a shopper will receive a Three Notch Market Buck. Those bucks are chances at a three-day weekend at the beach.”
Members of the AJWC also will be selling $1 raffle tickets. There will be a drawing every hour, and a grand prize drawing for a week-long beach trip. The winning number will be drawn at 3 p.m., and you do not have to be present to win.
The event opens at 9 a.m., and the Carroll Williams Band will take the stage at 9:30 a.m. Other entertainers include Upstairs with Jason Fox, Paul Williamson and Ben Fox; Michael Kelley; Bravetown with Michael Kelley, Lucas Morton, Jay Ragsdale and Dan Crotts; and Scott Rogers and Phillip McClung.
Other members of the Three Notch Market committee are co-chair-Aubrey McKee; vendor chair- Lesley Thorn; vendor co-chair- Terri Proctor; entertainment chair- Tina Rogers; and raffle ticket chair-Lindsey Reeves.
