The Three Notch Museum will have a brand new item for sale beginning today during Three Notch Market.
CCB Community Bank worked with the Covington Historical Society to reproduce a coloring book of local historical places. The new coloring book is on sale at the museum for $5.
“The original coloring book was done in 1983,” Sue Bass Wilson said. “We were almost out, and asked CCB Community Bank to work with us to produce a new one.”
Local artist Roger Powell did the black and white drawings for the original coloring book, and those were used again. But CCB also had him do a watercolor of the Three Notch Museum, which graces the front cover. Powell’s watercolor of the bank is on the back cover.
The first drawing inside the book is also of the museum building. The Central of Georgia Depot, circa 1899, is the oldest wooden building remaining in downtown Andalusia. It was restored in the mid-1980s for use as the local history museum.
“We appreciate and salute CCB Community Bank for underwriting this project,” said Sue Bass Wilson, who chairs the Historical Society’s museum committee. “Their long-standing presence in the business community has been significant in the development of residential neighborhoods and homes, as well as commercial buildings and businesses.
CCB Community Bank President Wem Mellown said the book has been very well received by those who’ve gotten a sneak preview.
“We were excited to partner with the historical society on this project,” Mellown said. “Roger Powell does such a great job and this was such a classic that we jumped at the chance. I have one in my office and everyone who has seen it wants a copy.”
The coloring books, which are $5, are available at the museum.
