Becky Hobbs and her mother Doris Henderson were the winner of the Andalusia Star-News’s Mother’s Day drawing for a $50 gift card.

The following was submitted by Hobbs about her mother:

“I know I might be biased, but my mother, Doris Henderson, is without a doubt, the best mother in the world!

“She is the most selfless person, I’ve ever known.

“ You see, she became a widow at the young age of 40; being left to rear three girls alone- a set of twins, Rhonda and Sonia (age 8) and myself (age 15).

“ Since that time, forty more years have passed. I often reflect back over my life and realize just how fortunate I was to be blessed with such a loving, nurturing and selfless mother.

“I couldn’t have looked the world over and chosen a better mother than the one God picked for me. She has always put us before her own wants or needs.

To her, I will be forever g”ateful for the life she provided me and for her never-ending love and relationship we thankfully share as adults.

“It is my pleasure to honor my mother on ‘her’ day as we celebrate Mother’s Day 2016.

“ I am so thankful God has allowed her to be here to celebrate yet another Mother’s Day with me. “
