An Alabama Department of Transportation project on Alabama Highway 55 from south of Poplar Street to the Yellow River will begin Mon., May 16, 2016.

The project will consist of safety widening, resurfacing, and traffic stripe.

There will be lane closures throughout the project.  A reduced speed limit of 35 mph will be in effect throughout the construction zone. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the construction zone and expect delays.

The $2,689,541.15 contract was awarded to Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., out of Dothan, who had the lowest bid that met project requirements. The contract allows for 60 working days.
