Inez Robbins Williamson

Inez Robbins Williamson, age 98, of Midway, Tenn., formerly of Andalusia, passed away early Saturday morning, May 7, 2016.

As long as her health permitted, she loved having a garden and working in her yard. One of her greatest joys was volunteering with Gifts For Kids where she was known as the “stocking stuffer” lady.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharron and Frank Whitbeck of Midway; a grandson, who was the pride and joy of her life, Jim Whitbeck of Morristown, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and her “grand dog” Kole, who stole her heart.

Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband of almost 46 years, Tom Henry Williamson; her parents: James Robbins and Margaret Emmaline “Florence” Worley Robbins; her brothers: Howell Robbins, James Robbins, Marvin Robbins, Charlie Robbins, and Shirley Grover Robbins; her sisters, Nonie Ward, Luvenie “Venie” McCoy and Una McGraw; and a special friend: Jack Fox.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thurs., May 12, at Foreman Funeral Home in Andalusia. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Stone Lake Cemetery.

 

Elizabeth Armstrong Rushing

Elizabeth Armstrong Rushing, age 90, a resident of the Springhill Community, died Tues., May 10, 2016, at Elba Nursing Home. Funeral services for Ms. Rushing will be held on Sat., May 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.

Ms. Rushing is survived by her children, Teresa Sanders (Richard), Gary E “Gene” Rushing and Bonnie Cagle (Randy); six grandchildren, Janet Bryan, Phillip Sanders (Wendy), Kathy L. Rushing, Eric E. Rushing (Crystal), Stacey Daugherty (Jim) and Jason Dickert; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Christine Poole; a lifelong friend, Ingrid Richards; and several nieces, nephews and other close relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Armstrong; husband, Homer E. Rushing; four brothers; one grandson-in-law, Jim Bryan and one niece, Sandra Rushing.
