The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles started their day on Friday with a close 2-1 win over the Blacksher Lady Bulldogs to advance in the Losers Bracket of the Girls 1A Varsity Softball Regional Regional.

Anna Bulger and Abby Walker had their team with a 2-1 lead at the bottom of the seventh inning when Blacksher’s score a big run with two outs in the game to bring the score within a point. A huge stop by PHS’s Taylor McGhee, on a line drive, secured the Lady Eagles victory and guaranteed a rematch with Kinston.

Pleasant Home fell to Kinston on Thursday night in the tournament’s first round and looked for revenge Friday afternoon as the two teams faced off in a rematch. Tempers flared between the two sides early, leading from a warning from the umpires, but the Lady Bulldogs took control of the game early by scoring four runs in the first inning.

Pleasant Home’s Cassidy Godwin answered with a thundering homerun to cut the lead to 4-1 in the second inning, but Kinston piled on the scoring from there and extended their lead to 7-2 by the fourth inning. Pleasant Home never managed to slow down the Lady Bulldogs and fell 13-3 to eliminate Pleasant Home completely from the tournament.
