A candlelight vigil is being organized for an Andalusia High School freshman who died as a result of a Friday night accident.

A spokesman for the Alabama State Troopers said AHS freshman Lorne Wayne Macer, 15, was operating a 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was struck by a 2008 Ford Expedition on U.S. 29 at the 49.5 mile marker, three miles north of Andalusia. The accident occurred at 7:10 p.m. Friday.

Macer was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he died yesterday. The driver of the Expedition was not injured.

A vigil is planned for 8 p.m. Tues., May 17, on the front lawn of AHS. The vigil is open to all students and members of the community.

The names of others involved in the accident were not released by the Alabama State Troopers. A spokesman said troopers continue to investigate the accident.
