The American Red Cross is seeking blood donations.

Kristen Stancil, external communications manager for the Red Cross said Monday that during the summer months, the ARC may see as many as 100,000 fewer blood donations than are needed.

“Vacation plans and summer activities can make it difficult for even the most dedicated donors to give, but the need for blood doesn’t take a holiday or summer break,” she said.

Stancil said ARC is asking eligible donor to choose their day to give blood or platelets and help ensure that blood is available for patients all summer long.

“We depend on community partners like you to help raise awareness of the ongoing need for blood, especially during the challenging summer months,” she said.

A blood drive will be held June 8, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., at First United Methodist Church.
