Andalusia Isshinryu Karate’s Ethan Henderson a strong day of competition in the third annual Battle of the Beach Martial Arts Championships held in Gulf Shores.

The event was hosted by Wheeles Karate Academy in Gulf Shores. Competitors competed in weapons, forms and fighting divisions for their age and belt rank.

The day belonged to Henderson, as he picked up first place finishes in green belt weapons and green belt kata. Henderson also had a third place finish in green belt fighting.

He is a student of Mark Rudd at Andalusia Isshinryu Karate, located beside the USA Gym and Fitness Center. For class information, call 488-3104.

Andalusia Isshinryu Karate has its South Alabama Karate Open upcoming on June 11 at Straughn High School. Rudd said that they have schools from a six-state area coming to compete, he expects around 25 schools to be represented at the tournament.
