Local camping spots are nearly booked to capacity for the three-day holiday weekend.

At Point A, Joni Johnson said she had a couple of spots left.

“We are doing pretty good,” she said. “What we have depends the length and what they need.”

Johnson said their bathroom upgrades have been completed.

At Cypress Landing, there were about 10 spots left Friday, and today is a busy day for the camping site on Gantt Lake.

“We have Elvis coming,” said EJ Service.

Jerome Jackson will be there doing his rendition of a tribute to Elvis.

Also appearing is Pam Jackson singing new and classic country hits. She will kick off at 6 p.m., and Elvis will hit the stage at 7.

Tickets are $10 before the event and $15 at the gate.

Service said they are smoking Boston Butts and will have a fully stocked concession stand with hamburgers, hot dogs and pulled pork beginning at 4 p.m.

Additionally, they are offering canoe-kayak rentals and a shuttle service to put in at Conecuh Creek. It’s a 6.6-mile run.

At Gantt Lake RV Park, owner Dwan Hughes said he stays about 80 percent booked most of the year, but he’s better than 90 percent right now.

“I have a lot of regulars who leave their trailers here,” he said.

In Opp, at Frank Jackson State Park, Chris Jones said they are booked completely.

“We have 32 campsites and three camper trailers,” he said.

Florala State Park is also experiencing a good weekend. All of the camping spots were reserved by the end of April.
