The Andalusia Public Library will kick off its annual summer reading program today.

The event will begin with a balloon release at 3 p.m.

Today’s visitor will be Live Animal Tales.

“Live Animals Tales is where they bring live animals and show them off,” said APL children’s librarian Caryl Lee Ray.

Additionally, Ray said the students will be encouraged to bring donations in support of the Miracle League.

“We are asking them to bring extra ball caps, ball gloves, bats and baseballs,” she said. “We want them to contribute back to the community.”

There will be weekly prizes, door prizes and contest prizes to be given away, she said.
