Rainfall totals up year to date

So far, it’s been a relatively wet year.

The Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority recorded 2.0 inches of rain at Yellow River on Hwy. 55 in May, which was slightly higher than last May’s recorded 1.92 inches.

However, totals for the year to day are trending much higher than 2015. Through May, Choc-Pea’s flood gauges recorded 29.76 inches at Yellow River on Hwy. 55, compared to 20.11 inches last year.

The Choc-Pea Authority also began monitoring rainfall at Yellow River on Hwy. 84 last Feburary. They recorded 3.42 inches there in May, compared to 3.48 inches last year. From February through May of this year, 22.7 inches of rain was recorded there, compared to 17.22 for the same period last year.
