Robert “Rev” E. Hudson

The Rev. Robert “Rev” E. Hudson, 83, of Bonifay, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2016, in the Doctors Memorial Hospital.

0610-huson-obitBeing reared in a Christian Home, Robert accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of the New Bethel A.M.E. Church of Bonifay, Fla. Later in his life, Robert received the call from God to preach the gospel and then became the Rev. Robert E. Hudson. He was an ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served diligently until he retired from his duty. He was blessed to pastor Mt. Zion AMEC, MT. Olive AMEC, New Bethel AMEC, St. Mary AMEC, Good Hope AMEC, Bethlehem AMEC, Snow Hill AMEC, Mt. Pisgah AMEC, St. Paul AMEC, and McChapel AMEC. He served his churches with his whole heart and loved serving the people of God. He was a true man of God.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved sons, Robert Bargainer of Pensacola, Fla., Raymon Hudson (Clorissa), Poe White, and Joseph Sanders, all of Bonifay; loving daughters: Barbara Sanders, Judy Love, Zoey Carter-Hudson, and Elaine Smith, all of Bonifay; a daughter-in-law Felecia Smith-Hudson; siblings, Willie J. Hudson, Helen Bradley (Joe), and Ruth Ann Freeney, all of Red Level, Ala., Catherine Middleton (Gene) of Andalusia, and Clara Head of Louisville, Ky.; a god-daughter, Sheneka Richardson (Stephen); grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Mrs. Etta Mae Hudson and his beloved son, the Rev. Roy Hudson.

A homegoing service was held at 1 p.m. Sat., June 4, 2016, from the First Baptist Church of Bonifay, Dr. Shelly Chandler, pastor. The eulogy was by Pastor Stephen Andrews, (grandson) with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Bonifay Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, Fla.

 

William Lefette Barnes

Mr. William Lefette Barnes, 64, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., June 7, 2016, at the Andalusia Hospital.

Memorial services were held Thurs., June 9, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dennis Knowles officiating.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Teresa Barnes of Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Scott Hewitt of Ocala, Fla., and Jessica H. and Brandon Carr of the Carolina Community; five grandchildren, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roy Barnes and Kent and Vickie Barnes of Andalusia.

Hazel Voncille Pate Bennett Culp

Mrs. Hazel Voncille Pate Bennett Culp, age 92, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., June 6, 2016, at Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services were held Thurs., June 9, 2016, at New Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Cleveland Brown officiating the service. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Thomas of Paul, Ala., Brenda Lynn of Pensacola, Fla., Barbara Faye and David Maddox of Fairfield Bay, Ariz., Yvonne Bennett of McKenzie, and Wanda and Rennie Mills of Wetumpka; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Louise Pate of Florence, Ala.

She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Guy Bennett; daughter, Theresia Musgrave; granddaughter, Ann Ryan; and grandson, Curtis Grimes.

Pallbearers will include Grady McClain, Jeremy McClain, Garrett McClain, Sandy Lynn, Joshua Jackson, and Travis Pate. Honorary pallbearers are Rennie Mills and Mike Jensen.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to New Providence Baptist Church.
