Covington County’s own Michael Hurst will be one of 160 Alabama National Guard soldiers deploying to Kuwait.

The 1670th Transportation Company from Brantley and Clayton will deploy to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The soldiers of the 1670th Transportation Company will provide transport for heavy equipment in their area of operations.

The unit will undergo additional training at a mobilization station before deploying overseas.

Locals are encouraged to attend the ceremony to send off the soldiers of the 1670th Transportation Company.

The deployment ceremony will be Sat., June 18, at 3 p.m., at the Eufaula Community Center.
