The Andalusia City School board handled several personnel issues in its Wednesday meeting.

The board hired:

• Tambry Jewell as a guidance counselor at AJHS.

• Harrison Mims as a social science teacher at AJHS.

• Ray Bozeman as a special ed paraprofessional at AHS.

• Natalie Mims as teacher at AES, grade level to be determined.

The board accepted resignations from:

• Marshall Locke, physical education teacher at AHS, who is going to Ozark City Schools.

• Paige Strickland, 8th grade science at AHS, who is going to Opp City Schools.

The board transferred Olivia Ennis, guidance counselor, from AJHS to AHS.

On a recommendation by board chairman Dr. David McCalman, the board agreed to “keep whole” four people in the system who received a 2 percent raise in the state budget, as opposed to the 4 percent increase to other employees. An additional two percent will come from local funds. They included the superintendent, and the district administrators for special ed, federal programs, and curriculum.
