Spots are still open for Saturday’s firearms familiarization and safety course.

The event is sponsored by the sheriff’s department and will cover handgun safety and efficient firing of handguns.

To participate in the class, attendees will need to provide his or her own handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition, hearing protection and eye protection.

The event will be held at the Covington County Sheriff’s Office Firing Range on Hwy. 55 North in Red Level at 8 a.m.
