Andalusia Isshinryu Karate continues strong showings

Andalusia Isshinryu Karate team members continue to rake in the hardware with several big finishes in the IIKA Middle Tennessee Isshinryu Open Karate Games in Watertown, Tenn., recently.
The event was hosted by Master Tony Williams, and the Lebanon Isshinryu Dojo of Lebanon, Tenn.
As a whole, Andalusia Isshinryu Karate brought home seven first-place finishes. All four Andalusia competitors won at least one first place trophy.
Taj Patel stole the spotlight by winning his first ever Youth Black Belt Grand Championship.
Landon Caldwell was wheeling and dealing as well, as he captured three first-place finishes in the brown belt competition to lead the group.
Results from the entire group are as follows.
Taj Patel took home a first place trophy in black belt kata and second place finishes in black belt weapons and kumite. Patel also grabbed Youth Black Belt Grand Championship.
Dalton Spears finished first in black belt kata and fourth place in black belt weapons.
Landon Caldwell notched first-place finishes in brown belt weapons, brown belt kata and brown belt kumite.
Kila Owens grabbed a pair of first-place finishes in brown belt kata and brown/black belt kumite. Owens finished second in brown belt weapons.
