Band no longer to perform at Opp 4th of July event

Today’s Yesterday band will no longer play at Monday’s Fourth of July celebration in Opp.

Mayor John Bartholomew confirmed the band was no longer scheduled to play.

A replacement is in the works, he said.

Starting at 10 a.m., Frank Jackson State Park will be free admission.

There will be free watermelon.

“You are welcome to bring your own picnic baskets and cook or enjoy food from vendors that will be set up,” Pam Potter, organizer said.

Charlene Payne will kick off entertainment at 2 p.m.
