Andrews named 2017 DYW

Lillian Andrews was named Covington County’s 2017 Distinguish Young Woman on Saturday.

Andrews is a rising senior at Andalusia High School. She also won the fitness category of DYW, and tied in the essay competition.

She is a varsity cheerleader and will serve as captain this year. She also is a member of A Sound Tradition, and will serve her class as president. She is a member of Key Club, SGA, and participates in competitive dance.

First alternate was Ashlan Kelley, a rising senior at Pleasant Home. She won the self expression, interview, and spirit awards.

Loni Blatz was second alternate. She is a rising senior at Straughn, where she is president of the Student Government Association, captain of the varsity cheer squad and a soloist for the FFA String Band. She also is a youth worship leader at Bethany Baptist Church.

Pleasant Home’s Linsey Smithart won the talent and scholastic categories, and tied in the essay competition.
