Two local salons are stepping up to the plate to show their support for local law enforcement after a turbulent few weeks and growing hostility.

Tommie Norris of Opp’s Upscale Salon & Spa said Monday that the business would offer haircuts to all law enforcement officials this week on the house” as a way of s”howing they are backing the blue.

“Apparently there are some businesses or employees of businesses across the state who are refusing to serve our officers,” he said.

Charlotte’s Barber Shop will be teaming up with Upscale Salon to honor LEOs.

“Show your badge, get free services,” Charlotte Wyatt. “This goes for all officers.”

Over the weekend, a Taco Bell employee in Phenix City refused to serve uniformed deputies.

According to information from Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones the deputies were told they wouldn’t be served because of their uniforms and they needed to leave.

Taco Bell spokeswoman Laura Nedball issued a statement to news outlets saying the franchise owner fire the employee and that Taco Bell does not endorse the employee’s feelings.

“I don’t think people quite understand fully what officers sacrifice to keep the peace and protect us and to witness the tragedy and treatment of those who serve us be under such attack, they need to know we stand with them and support them,” Norris said.

The business is located just north of Opp near the old Lake Grocery. For more info, call 208-0195.
